Closing Bell
That's it, this is the last message on this blog. The new blog (gracefully hosted by the Libervis Network) is now located here: www.standardsandfreedom.net
Thank you for your patience, I hope you will stay with me at standardsandfreedom.net!

Moving this blog to a new domain
Dear readers,
this blog is about to move in to a different server and with a new
domain name. I am not leaving the Libervis network, because actually
Libervis bloggers (kudos to Libervis and Daniel for all the hard work
and support) are moving to a new server.
This blog is thus going to remain pretty much idle for some time. Then it'll be classified as my "old blog".
Please apologize for the probably shaky transition.
My new blog will be hosted at http://www.standardsandfreedom.net . Please set your rss readers, bookmarks and other links accordingly.
Feel free to contact me here if you have trouble.
Thank you for your continuing support and interest!
Cheers,
Charles-H. Schulz.

France votes NO with Comments to OpenXML
Despite pressure, insults, disrespect
Despite Microsoft, despite all the things and all the people
Who opposed us, pushing for OpenXML like bullies,
Ignoring defects, bugs, and the fundamental laws of computing
Willfully sacrifying the truth for the sake of their own agenda,
France refused OpenXML and asked for its revision.
To all of those who worked months after months
Showing how much flawed the whole thing was
Producing comments and showing why
We did not want a second standard
Why we were not willing to submit to Microsoft's Diktat,
I send my best wishes, and my deepest gratitude
To those who believed that we were wrong
I'd just say that they can go their own way
As OpenXML exists,
standard or non standard,
for their own sake and for our own demise.
To those who thought they could fool us
Who wanted us to accept the unacceptable
To those who insulted, threatened, shouted
And who are now talking against the wind
I have nothing to say
For they should think about what they did
And what a disservice to their next
To software and to standards
They did.
Cheers, the fight goes on.

I'm shocked! Shocked and Jealous!
So I'm shocked. Really, Stephane, why don't you bow before the rich and mighty like so many do? You should have no reason to do that, especially when the rich and mighty have such obvious reasons in their favour... No, actually, I have to tell you Stephane, I'm jealous of what you just did. This blog only got slashdotted once, and I want more of it.
Anyway, keep up the good work, Stephane!
