Adonthell, the story

Adonthell, the story

This is nice. I've recently come to this nice game called Adonthell. It seems to be actually more like a game engine to which you plug the actual game to play. Well, I played Waste's Edge, the latest and as it seems to be currently the only game available for it. I must say the graphics aren't anything too fancy and impressive. It's the fuzzy old 2D, but what makes this game so nice is the story and the simplicity which hooks you up to it until you finish it.

And indeed it can be finished fast. I've played maybe a couple of hours to get from the beginning of the Waste's Edge story to the end. It is a story about the investigation of a gem's theft for which an innocent mistress was accused. The feeling is however like if it was a movie you're watching, but also participating in all actions. You're making conversations by selecting text to reply and by this uncovering the pieces of the story as they fit together.

In the end this "movie" effect is even further confirmed as it has the written story conclusion and real credits. It also has some very nice music throughout the game.

All in all I just liked it, and enough to share my experience here with you and recommend that you try it. It is not at all hardware hungry (as you may imagine), maybe not too graphically impressive, but the story makes you stick.. or maybe not.. See for yourself :-)

Btw; I imagine contests being held on who's gonna solve the gem's theft case in the shortest time. :-P

Cheers
Daniel
