Cyberpunk minus negativity
I've just been drawned into a brief research of cyberpunk, although I don't always have a significant desire to define and label my cultural style, which is why I am often oblivious to some of the terms that may be describing it.
Anyway, from what I read about "cyberpunk" I am *it* all the way except for one big thing: negativity. Cyberpunk is all about this impressive collision of humans with technology and the effects that this has on us, but what is common to cyberpunk is also the negative view of this (although maybe slightly perversely enjoyable negativity). Instead of imagining a peaceful future where technology allowed humans to evolve further, cyberpunk stories imagine them as dystopias and futures where technology basically starts ruling over humans or ruining humans in certain ways.
This is also a reason why Star Trek definitely isn't cyberpunk.
It's interesting how wikipedia describes cyberpunk: "Cyberpunk is a science fiction genre noted for its focus on "high tech and low life".
Well, high tech all the way if you ask me! Bring it on! However, I don't want "low life" to go with it. I would turn this around and call for high tech, high life (and not high as in marijuana high, mind you, I mean deep, next level, better, evolved..).
So, is there a name for this?
Edit: I know! We could call it "cybermonks".
Just kidding. What I'm all about, my style, is cyber without "punk", because I don't wanna be a punk.

The focus on the positive instead of the negative, the desire to be in touch with reality rather than anarchy, the even keel personality, the fair and deep thinker, the respecter of other's rights and thoughts and differences, the interest to see young and old have their say, the need to still want to make a fair buck but honestly with good sweat equity -- you have the traits of the perfect blogger and multimillionaire affiliate marketeer, except with better content. You remind me of a minister I once had. I would be horsing around at one of these gatherings and he would pull me aside and say something nice, but then tell me that something I said or did could be misconstrued as hurting ones feelings or whatever. Of course, it's not to that extreme here, but it's like you have a sense of care, conciousness here, thinking things through deeply, and respect for all points of view.
So, just my two cents. Keep the faith, and try to make a fair buck here or there, too, as a consequence.
