Libervis Podcast
Hello
This isn't the first time to mention this idea as we've mentioned it in our "Year Of Libervis" but since I think it's a viable idea I think it's not too early do discuss it, that is, see what everyone thinks and how are we gonna be doing it.
This podcast doesn't actually have to be a very regular thing at first. We could do it every now and then and then only make it regular.
But even before that we need to resolve the hosting issue as those are to be a bit bigger files that need to reside somewhere. I might make a test podcast at some point (fully mixed!) and release it as kind of a demo..
Anyway, we've got some other things to do as well. I have to finish that article I've been working on slowly and we have to prepare for the next interview (to be discussed in another topic). So this doesn't have to be hurried anywhere, but no harm in lanching the idea and discussing it.
Thanks

I am thinking about some podcasting ideas for some time now and I'd like to invite everyone to say if you have any nice ideas on how would we do them, what to feature in them etc.
Basically, my idea is to have music in the background, possibly even some spots, and for the beginning read and comment on some news that have been chosen for the podcast. Anything else? We sure could do something even more interesting.
One pretty crazy idea I've had is to invent a silly character of our own (we could even have a graphic of it), a creature of the sort, with its own name (something associating libervis.com) that someone of us (or even myself) would act. We'd process its voice so that it sounds kind of robotic, but cute. He (that virtual creature) could be a humorous commentator on various free culture and libervis related happenings. We can think of lines for him to say here in forums and then just do it. Maybe it sounds silly, but anyway, just an idea I wanted to share. I thought, maybe it could be so fun to attract alot of listeners, as it is different and possibly unique...
So, your ideas are welcome. I'll be trying to set up a system for recording both my voice and music at the same time (so that music goes to one track and my voice to another and it is all recorded into a final track simultaneously). That would be much easier and sound more professional than first recording voice and then post mixing music into it. :-)
Oh and I already know the song to play for the opening podcast. ;-)

For the graphic of the silly character, just take the freedom sun, give it hands and feet, and put a microphone in one of it's hands.
For it's text... let it do short silly interviews with members of libervis, and put it at the end of the podcast. This will keep people listening all the way to the end, there is nothing following it that might feel less serious because of it, and it's a nice ending.
Alternatively, do something similar to "Strong Bad emails", but that might seem unoriginal.
I would go for a "mouse" voice instead of a robotic voice.

Good idea. :-D

In that case we should actually have recordings of answers of those libervis members, or you mean to just act them (that could be ackward, except if we get answers on forums and then just read-act them).. :-)

Well that could do it too. Mouse voice would probably be funnier to hear.

Well, we could only interview members who have microphones... I think most of us do.

Does replying count as letting you know? :-P

An idea for a podcast that I just had: we could be picking out most interesting blog entries from blogs.libervis.com and make some comments on them. They could be like featured libervis blogs for a given podcast. It would add some substance to podcasting. Of course, we can make the same featured blogs section (or block) on a website as well (not just as part of the talki in a podcast).
If anyone has any further ideas be welcome to propose. In any case it shouldn't be long before I make a preliminary recording.
Thanks
Daniel

If a blog entry is interesting, we could simply ask the author to read and record it, right? I think there always is some extra value in a text being read by the author him/herself, you can hear in what way they mean their words...
