Machinima
One of the new things I became interested in lately are machinima, or movies made within video games. I am in fact building a site that is to allow linking, voting and reviewing machinima movies, recognizing it as a growing phenomenon and an interesting new (at least from the perspective of the mainstream) media of cultural expression.
While my new project is general and oriented to all machinima, I do remain interested in using it to also promote the idea of making machinima with freedomware and machinima that is itself published with explicitly unrestrictive terms (like Creative Commons licenses).
I haven't found many machinima movies made with freedomware games, however nor have I found a particularly significant contingent of machinima makers that promote freer digital culture (which is all something that we can then try to encourage), but if anyone has any references feel free to add them below.
Aside from that I'd only ask, if anyone is interested in commenting, what do you think about machinima and it's potential, especially as far as free culture and more broad freedom campaigning is concerned?
I think it's doing for movie making what blogs did for journalistic publishing, to begin with.
