New Linux Distro: XLine
As the news say, there is a new linux distribution to be born, called XLine.
The initiator of the project is the former MandrakeSoft engineer which already gives some clues as to what it may be (given the reputation of Mandrake as one of the most user friendly distros around). And indeed, Xline will feature GUI installation, automatic hardware detection and easy configuration.
It sure looks like a promising attempt to finally develop a real desktop friendly "easy to use" operating system for those that are "hard to think" (or just don't have time for it)
.
You can find more info on Xline website and you can even download some of to be featured components from this page
One thing though, it doesn't seem to stand much for a Free Software "principles" since it uses proprietary flash technology for their site. But is it me nitpicking?! :-P
Let's wish them luck.

After reading xline-specifications.pdf it cought my attention and will have me at least trying it out. Only problem is that like you said the initiator of the project is an ex-MandrakeSoft engineer and as I was never a Mandrake fan I may be a bit biased.
