What linux distro do you use?
What!? We didn't ask that classic question already? Well, here is it...
What linux distro do you use right now?
You can also say why do you use exactly that one. I imagine this thread will be active for a looong time, as every member that comes in could (read: should) answer this. :-)
Anyway, i use slackware right now, and plan to move to gentoo some time soon. :-) I'll keep you posted. ;-)
Thanks
Danny

I use Mandrake for several months now, and I think I'll stay with it for a while. I like to have it all set-up for me so I can tweak it a little and then get on to actually doing something on my linux box :-).
I used RedHat and Debian for some time, but found them not quite suitable (to be honest, Debian was OK, but it was an outdated 3.0).

Debian Sarge. I'll agree with stojic that Woody is showing it's age. I have not had any problems with Sarge but Sid always ends badly for me.
I do belong to the flavor of the month club and have tried all the major distros and a bunch of the minors ones as well, and almost always end up back with Debian, due to familiarity, Fedora would be my second choice.
I always carry a Knoppix disc or three for my meanderings both to give out and use.
Great for practical jokes, too. Imagine your MS using friends expression when they see you using linux on their system.

Currently: SuSE.
I am German, and since my father entered computing very early (late 70's), and then changed to Linux, SuSE was his first choice, since it was developed in Germany. Since then, we continue to use SuSE, but we also have debian live cds, like Knoppix, Simply MEPIS, etc.

) - and Ubuntu because it is reckoned by many of my friends as very, very cute and user friendly.
Well, this is being posted from a SuSE machine, I recenty have been getting interested in other distros, since I have friend that use them. Gentoo, Debian, and Ubuntu are all in the highlight. Debian because it basically has everything - Gentoo because it gives you 110% out of your hardware (
I want to get a larger HD, and build in the extra mother board, so that I upgrade from a 350 Mhz to a 1.2 Ghz - and then I will get hopefully Ubuntu and Debian also installed. Gentoo to install so adapt it completely with your hardware is a bit hard for me at the moment, so SuSE, Debian and Ubuntu will have to do for me. :-)

Arch Linux on my main box for the last 6 months. With debian Sid as my all time favorite. Number 3 would have to be Slackware.

I began with knoppix and mandrake, but never used them for much more than 12-24 hours

Hi Libervisioners,
I always used RedHat and them tried Suse, but it gave me too much headache. Now I am happy with Fedora Core 3. I like the way it is and like also to install any software (when available) using apt-get or rpm packages. It is easier for me to install softwares this way. The only problem I see with RPM packages is about dependencies. This is a headache, but anyway I am satisfied with this distro. I had also an experience using Mandrake here at work and it seemed to me as if it were a "light" Linux (Mandrake 10) and Fedora (compared to Mandrake) seems more robust and efficient. However, I am not a geek, I am only saying this based on my little experience (I am still a learner regarding to Linux).
Being a little off-topic now... It's been about 4 to 5 months I only use Linux at home and actually, since I changed my motherboard and Windows didn't like the idea of a new motherboard (I think I will have to reinstall Windows again) and refused to boot, I think that I will not use it if I don't need. And I haven't needed it for months. Will continue like that until I can.
Fedora Core 3 is the distro I am using and I am happy with it. :-)
Thank you,
Andre

Heh, you installed KDE on it?
I've heard a few people doing so by modifying apt-get config files , or something like that
was just wondering

Currently my favorite distribution will have to be Debian, although I am increasingly becoming interested in installing Linux from scratch.

KDE on ubuntu? That would be the kubuntu project. No, I did not install KDE, I'm a KDE-hater. I just installed my favourite software (ion wm, nedit editor...)
