Who would you like to interview?
Okay, what other site lets YOU choose who will be interviewed? ;-)
Infact, not only that you have an ability to propose a lucky guy here, but you can be part of the actual interview process by asking questions you want an interviewee to answer.
Well, go ahead, think about the interesting people you've heard about whose work you think bears significance with Free Culture and Free Software and spell his or her name here.
Who knows, we might actually pull it through and get him/her to do this with us. :-)
Cheers
Daniel

How about the creator of Arch Linux, Judd Vinet.
He recently did an interview with Linux Link Tech Show which was fairly decent... but more interesting questions could be asked

I think an interview with Richard Stallman (FLOSS) would be interesting, particulary if it focussed on the political dimensions of the subject.

Both are good suggestions. I also use Arch GNU/Linux and I imagine it would be fun and informative to hear Judd Vinet's thoughts on the more libervisy topics such as Free Software and Free Culture...
Of course though, RMS is a big fish so to say. With the right questions (as in not those usually asked) we can make a great interview.
Anyone else has additional suggestions or would want to vote for any of above?
Thanks

RMS would be pretty cool - if we didn't ask the same questions as everybody else.
Other than that I can think of Alan Cox (Welsh Linux Kernel Hacker) as another candidate.

Jonathan Schwartz
Maybe we need to think about what we want to talk about with all these people before we decide who to interview first.
reply quote
Doesn't what we want to talk about depend rather heavily on who we are interviewing? Perhaps a short list of (say) three people could be devised and then we could discuss questions particular to each of those people.
reply quote
I agree. Let's choose three people of some relevance to Free Culture and then see what can we ask each of them. Then we can see who of them may be most interesting and ask for interview. In case he refuses for any reason we can then move to the second and ask him instead.
Well, RMS can be one and Jonathan Schwartz may be interesting too considering we could ask him about GPLv3 and CDDL and future of OpenSolaris etc. Now I'm not sure who to pick between Alan Cox and Judd Vinet.. Maybe Alan Cox because he could give us more insight to linux kernel development and express his opinions on linux not converting to GPLv3 and Linus's latest comments about FSF...
What does everyone think?

I would like to talk to Jonathan Schwartz about those things, and also about the changes in Sun's business model, what they think of GCJ...
As for interviewing RMS, I'm afraid it will become an agreeaview instead of an interview. But if someone has interesting topics to talk about with him, it will surely be interesting.
Alan Cox might be interesting.
Judd Vinet... I wonder what else we want to ask him except his position in Free vs Open. Maybe some things about the technical direction of Arch.
Based on a combination of reason and gut feeling, my wishlist is:
1 Jonathan Schwartz
2 RMS
3 Judd Vinet

I'd favor Jonathan Schwartz myself as well. It seems we'd have the most interesting questions to ask him because Sun is at this time a rather interesting position in regard to the whole FLOSS world because of Java and GCJ, OpenSolaris CDDL and the fact that GPLv3 may become compatible with CDDL..
And I imagine it would stirr alot of attention and even possible followup article to whatever is said in an interview.
Jonathan also has a blog worth checking out at http://blogs.sun.com/jonathan
Thanks
