Liberation by Internet
Submitted by libervisco on Mon, 2008-09-22 04:22. Tags:An excellent article about the power of internet as means of attaining more liberty. It helped end the Soviet Union and continues to help liberate people from oppression of big governments, while being far more efficient than government's methods of controlling it.
"Why I love Linux"
Submitted by libervisco on Thu, 2007-07-12 00:45. Tags:A very engaging, although from some point of view a bit geeky story showing why we love GNU/Linux. Of course, you don't have to be a geek to benefit from the bottom line benefit that the story is pointing to:
"It comes down to the most basic principle for the design of any operating system: it must enable you.">
That's what it's all about. It puts you into the drivers seat. If you're not an advanced user, somebody else is and that somebody is in a community which has the freedom to and is willing to help you too have a great ride!
The CD: headed for extinction
Submitted by libervisco on Fri, 2007-06-01 15:02. Tags:Interesting story about death of the CD (or I would rather say Music CD) and what happens next. The CD seems to be the last of what represents the old music industry. The new music industry which is being born these years doesn't care about the CD or whichever particular medium. It's all digital and it's all over the network. And advertising is driving the business, not CD sales.
Free Software on Dell

Tags:Only few months ago it may have seemed incredible, and now that it has happened we are left in almost a dreamy state wondering what exactly just happened. There has been a controversy regarding Dell's offering of GNU/Linux (Ubuntu) on their machines being too little, too late, too focused on enthusiast market instead of general market, but it can't be denied, despite everything, that this is a move in the right direction and that it leaves a lot of hope that the long expected surge of desktop GNU/Linux is about to be happening soon.
Interface Elements for JQuery
Submitted by libervisco on Wed, 2007-05-23 03:55. Tags:This is a package of various incredible javascript widgets that could be used for various elements on modern so called "Web 2.0" sites. Check out the demos to see what I mean by incredible.
And the package is Free Software.
Thanks to AndrewB for finding it and sharing the link with me. I might look into some of these scripts and see if some of them could be implemented on our sites for some useful function.
Cheers
