Tremulous Component
From Libervis Wiki
This page contains Tremulous specific rules and guidelines for the upcoming game fest. Tremulous is unique in that it allows only team play and will feature a competition mostly between established clans, albeit with a possible addition of at least two new teams.
Tremulous Tournament groups and matches

Teams
In every match there should be 5 players per each team. If a clan has more players they can decide which 5 players will play in a given match.
Scheduling of matches
Matches will be scheduled in a specified order, but not necessarily with an equal time frame between matches. However, a preferred time frame should not be longer than a week. We will try to schedule each match in a time when all players involved in that match are available.
For each match both players that will play and backup players should be present, in case some players don't show up.
If a team still lacks players we would give one chance of rescheduling. Next time that team has a lack of players they will be issued a forfeit.
Match configuration
4 rounds will be played on 2 maps (two rounds per map) where both teams get to choose one map and to play once as alien and once as human on it.
- Sudden death would proceed in 25 minutes so that the whole match would be over in 2.5 hours at most. Sudden death would be in mode 1.
- Unlagged would be disabled by default.
- Sharing/donations mode would be disabled by default.
- Leaving a game after last kill is not allowed. Even if you can't respawn, remain in your team until the end of a match. This is to avoid the team with less players to get into Stage 3 sooner than it otherwise would.
For other settings standard Tremulous defaults would apply.
No base camping
When the team is camping they remain in the safety of their base making sure to kill every attacker while themselves remaining fairly invulnerable. Once they reach stage 2 of the game they become stronger than the opponent and rush out to destroy it. This strategy is usually called "camping" and is within this tournament prohibited.
However, when a team waits somewhere in the middle of the map and/or hides and plans a surprise attack, this is not "base camping" and is an acceptable strategy. Also, if only a very small portion of the team (one or two players) remains in base to defend while others are out of the base and attacking, this is acceptable too.
Qualifications
Before the real tournament begins we will have a series of qualification matches that will determine the qualifications chart for the tournament. Teams will be split into groups of 4 or 5 in which each team will play each other.
2 of 4 or 3 of 5 will be disqualified while the rest proceed into the final tournament.
The charts will be determined based on the points system below.
Final Tournament
Final tournament will be played according to the single elimination bracket.
Points system
This will be used to determine the qualifications chart of the tournament as well as attribute the final number of points to the tournament winner which make him/her eligible for the universal winner title of the whole game festival.
Points will be awarded as follows:
- 4 points for a victory
- 2 points for a draw
- 1 point for a defeat
- O points for a forfeit
Forfeit happens when one of the teams does not show up for a match and fails to resolve the shortage of players in a way that is compliant to game fest rules. When one team is forfeited, the other gains immediate win points. Therefore forfeit is worse than losing a match and teams should hence be prepared and show up on time as scheduled.
Ping issue
If two teams are on the opposite sides of the globe, a way to even out the odds will be to play a map chosen by a team on a server with to them unfavourable lag and the same for the other team. Basically, while the team is playing their favourite map they are playing at an unfavourable latency, but when they play a map favoured by an opposite team they play on to them favourable latency.
Example: Team A is in EU and team B is in US. Each team chooses one map to play on (once as humans and once as aliens). Team A will play the map of their choice on the US server while team B plays the map of their choice on the EU server.
Of course, if both teams are in EU or US and everyone has good ping, everything will be played on the same server (in that case this is a non-issue).
Maps
Maps that will be accepted are the maps that come with Tremulous by default, so that there is no confusion. Those maps are:
