After almost a year of complete inactivity (was a dead project) XOOPS weBlog module project is finally revived with it's newest 1.4 release. Since this module powers libervis blogs i have updated it to a new version which now features trackbacks system and a bit nicer (and more blog-a-like) look.I have also contacted the new developer and talked to some php programmers about helping out in development with contributions in coding, testing and bug reports. So hopefully, this module has a bright future and will bring alot of great new features to libervis bloggers.

And another grumble before the assimilation, or would it be freeing from assimilation.. This article: Welcoming EDS to the world of Linux; shows that EDS is not the only group that grumbled before embracing FOSS (Free Open Source Software). When they realize they could have been wrong, that GNU/Linux really is the good deal, they start shouting angry at it before they put up with it and embrace it - colorfully put.

New Linux Distro: XLine

As the news say, there is a new linux distribution to be born, called XLine.

The initiator of the project is the former MandrakeSoft engineer which already gives some clues as to what it may be (given the reputation of Mandrake as one of the most user friendly distros around). And indeed, Xline will feature GUI installation, automatic hardware detection and easy configuration.

An art competition held at is about to enter it's final month run up at full speed. It is now sponsored by Great Big Blog that is now offering you a chance to win a great prize if your image get's chosen as the best one. But more on that later, after i reintroduce you to the very contest.Libervis Art Contest, started by one of our most active members, Moku Pascal, is obviously a competition in creating as best as you can graphical art by using *only* Free Software programs such as GIMP, Blender, Inkscape and others. It therefore serves the purpose of showing what can be done by using only Free Software as well as proving that indeed much of great digital art can be created with free (as in freedom) tools and without expensive proprietary ones such as Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and others.

The contest is happening in the "Creativity & Art" subforum of Free Software Support forum.

Here are the guidelines to the contest:

A. Tools used must be Free Software (also known as "open sourced" and not freeware, shareware or any other proprietary kind).
B. Art submitted must not be discriminatory in any way. Please also keep it PG-13. So nothing rude or violent.
C. You are permitted to submit as many entries as you wish.
D. All work must be done for this contest, not for another, and art completed not for this contest shouldn't be used either. Try keep it original and don't use works of others unless it is free for you to do so.
E. All entries must be in until the April 23rd 2005.
F. Above all please Have Fun! Smiling

You should see further details in the original announcement and also feel free to ask if you have any questions about the contest, in that thread.

The contest will last till the 23rd of April 2005 which is actually almost a week more than a month from now. After that, we will have a voting that can last from a week or two, depending on the number of votes in one week, which will decide the best images.

The winner is the one who has the most images rank the highest in the voting results. The second and third best are also eligible for a prize, only of course, not as nice as the one for a winner.

Speaking of the prize, the winner is about to win the following:

A) 40$ gift certificate from either and web stores including the cost of delivery (which depends on your Earth location). This means you can just surf through the store of your choice and choose anything whose price along with the delivery cost is anything up to 40 dollars.
This prize is kindly sponsored by Great Big Blog, a very nice collaborative blog.

As a winner you are also eligible to..

B) your work being present on Libervis t-shirts in a new to be open cafepress store,
C) recieve a Libervis sub-domain of your choice of name,
D) recieve an email account with POP and SMTP enabled,
E) be titled as an "Libervis Gold Artist" or by a title of your choice on forums (besides your post)

which also applies to the second and third best (we could call it silver and bronze) except that a title in "E" will either be "silver" or "bronze" in place of "gold" (if you choose that title of course).

Now, i certainly hope this is a motivation enough for you to get into it, sharp up your creativity, express yourself purely (no matter being expert designer or an "amateur" if there is such thing Eye and give it a go, show the best of what can come out of Free Software for liberated creative souls.

We'll be looking forward to take a glance at your rainbows. Smiling

Thank you
Daniel Orsolic

Glancing over i noticed an interesting headline from Builder, that Linux creator Torvalds switches to an Apple Mac, but before you think (as i did) that he is turning his back on his own offspring, Linux, he is not using Mac OS, just PowerPC architecture.
