On Libervis.com we explore the good uses of technology, those that put technology in the service of individual liberty, personal empowerment, betterment of society as a whole, and building a better future. We provide key resources that can help you use technology to advance these purposes, and we discuss the implications that technological trends, meshing with social trends, have for these values.

Why I love the GPL

Read a great article on newsforge, "Why I love the GPL", quoting Joe Barr:
"The reason I love the GPL is because it has made one of the richest men in the world -- some would say that makes him one of the most powerful men in the world -- impotent against the surging growth of Linux and its user base."
and discuss it here.

Art Contest!

I would like to announce an idea discussed briefly, a wee bit earlier here at Libervis. I have decided to host a small or big, depending on the interest, art competition. You may enter whatever you desire, using an variety of tools. There are a few restrictions - to keep in theme with Libervis, and make sure it is as enjoyable as I hope it will be.

- The guidelines to the contest as such:
A. Tools used must be Open Sourced, or Free Software (not freeware, shareware or proprietary).
B. Art submitted must not be discriminatory in any way. Please also keep it PG-13. So nothing rude or violent.
C. You are permitted to submit as many entries as you wish.
D. All work must be done for this contest, not for another, and art completed not for this contest shouldn't be used either. Try keep it original and don't use works of others unless it is free for you to do so.
E. All entries must be in within the next 2 months or so.
F. Above all please Have Fun!
