I actually regret not finding this early enough (four days ago) to include it as featured news. There is really no reason for this kind of agnosticism from Free Culture students movement from FreeCulture.org in which we at libervis.com seem to be (alot of it is my fault). It seems like at the core we're still too Free Software-centric.

Well that's gotta change. We have to join together.

And here is something spectacular that they have been doing four days ago:

Singing a Success!

Quote:

At 12:15 this afternoon, well over 1,000 people gathered to sing Happy Birthday to Ben Franklin. The event was both a celebration of an American hero and an act of civil disobedience, since a public performance of Happy Birthday, which is still locked up under copyright by the TimeWarner company, constitutes copyright infringement. The event was also an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest public performance of Happy Birthday.

Kudos to them!

It's nice to see people stand up to such absurd copyrights.

Indeed.

Here's some more info about this this copyright.

Unhappy Birthday

Happy Birthday. We'll Sue

And some from wikipedia:

Happy Birthday to You

It is actually owned by Time Warner which is according to wikipedia the worlds largest media company.
