Gigabyte announced recently that they are to release a 4GB RAM Disk. Basically a hard disk that's made up of DDR ram DIMMS.

It's basically a PCI card (uses PCI bus for power) with a SATA-1 connection with 4 DDR slots on it, allowing upto 4GB to be put on. Also with a backup battery to save data on the RAM once u shut down.

Will it take off? Personally i think so.... just imagine the boot speeds u will get off this!

Re: Gigabyte to release 4GB RAM disk

hehe yeh.

The only thing is how much battery power would a 160GB one use when the computer's turned off?!

I wouldn't wanna leave it too long for the 4GB one to drain a battery tbh.
