Just wondering what Flavor of Linux everyone thinks is the best?

I like RedHat myself. Only because it has a lot of support.

I personally love slackware linux. But telling someone what the best distro out there is, is just stupid. and listening is just as stupid. because with linux you have the choice of hundreds of distros. what you do is go to distrowatch.com and start look in at the most popular once and start downloading and start installing. you will keep installing new ones if until you find the one you like the best. with choosing the best distro for you its all a personal perference Smiling good luck Eye o and everyone is goin to try and put there favorite distro on you Smiling like my first line in the post Eye

Hehe, that's true K.

I only tried Mandrake 8.1 and live cd of Damn Small Linux which is Knoppix based. I like mandrake, but i can't really tell if it's the best for me. I gotta try some more distros first, and i will! :-)

I love Arch linux (no that's not that stupid arK linux).
No nonsense, but with a powerful command line package management (pacman), which is better than debian apt-get.
That being said, you should try everything yourself.

I didnt need any support for using fedora though Laughing
But you can find lots of support for fedora at
http://fedoraforum.org/
www.LinuxQuestions.org [the official forums for the Fedora Project]

Watch out! Don't go there! Don't touch apt-get Smiling.

Every distro is great if u know what to do with it. I'm, for example, using Debian on all production machines; web, mail, ftp, dns, file&print, cluster etc... I really love Debian. I dislike some things about it, but, generally it's great.

Another great distro is Gentoo. But you can't use Gentoo on production machines couse updates are slow. Gentoo, if everything is compiled, is very fast operating system. It gives new life to you machine. And it's great for that.

RedHat for example is great for Oracle and stuff like that. It's not that Debian can't do it, or that Gentoo can't do it. The thing is that Oracle supports RedHat and SuSE. So, this two distros are for stuff like that. I don't like RedHat too much, but I can live with it Smiling

So... Basicly, everybody has it's own favourite distro and noone can change his mind Smiling

I agree with that. And there's a linux distro for anybody. You just have to find it. That's the beauty of it, you have a great choice of distros so you can find the best for yourself.

And, welcome aboard Ivoks! :-)
